What is SOPA H.R.3261
SOPA (Stop Online Privacy Act) is a bill that was first introduced to the US House Of Represenatives on October 26, 2011.
This bill was made to help law enforcement and many of hollywood's copyright holders fight against
piracy. In a nutshell what this bill does is allow the goverment and various other private
companies from hollywood to choose which websites to cesnsor and cut off any way that particular
website makes money. They would be able to terminate their ad network accounts and payment providers
such as paypal and visa. They would go about doing this by blacklisting the entire domain
even if its one voilation. The only way you would be able to access that blocked website is if you happen to
know the IP address that corresponds to the website. Dosent make sence? Heres an example. When you call your
spouse on your cellphone you go into your contacts and select the name of your spouse. If your spouse's name
is blacklisted you would be forced to remeber you spouse's phone number.

What can we do?
Help raise awareness! Inform your firends and family about this website and other websites alike. Dont let our goverment destroy such a powerful thing like the internet just because hollywood thought it was a good idea. You can also help immensly by contacting your congress represenative and tell them what you think about this bill.
Why is this bill so bad?
This bill would cease inovation on the internet. How would you like to wake up one day and find that you favorite websites like Youtube or Facebook have been blocked? The main reason the internet is as great as it has become is because of the liberty any individual has to post what ever they wish. Sure right now they are "trying to stop priracy" however, if we let this it will open the door for more restrictive and suppresive laws. Many contries like China and Iran use a system like this at this exact moment.
